About Metastock Files: The Metastock exporter allows the user to specify exactly
what type of Metastock files to create,
255/2000/6000 and will include DOP files if
you turn the optional feature from the default of OFF to ON. We do not support Metastock
files for Metastock Versions 12.0 and
above.
The Equis Metastock
File Library is used to create and update the files for various Metastock releases. Choose the appropriate
directory size based on the version of Metastock
that is being used or the type of file the other application expects.
For
older applications that rely on the old Metastock
format and versions of Metastock before
6.0 a user must use the 255 securities per directory.
For
Metastock versions 6.0 through 7.0
Metastock was modified to accept 2000
securities per directory
For
Metastock versions 8.0 through 11.0
Metastock was modified to accept 6000
securities per directory.
For
Metastock versions 12.0 that came
out in 2008 Metastock changed their
file format. We do not support versions 12.0 and above.
NOTES:
- HGSI can update Metastock directories, even those we didn't make
or that have been edited. You
can create a set of Metastock directories outside of HGSI (using Amibroker,
Metastock, or some other application that creates Metastock files
that HGSI supports). If the
Metastock file is created outside of HGSI and contains symbols that
are not in the HGSI database you receive an error report of missing
sysbols.
- To assure data integrity for splits and other corrections to the
historical data, the updating process replaces
all the previous Metastock history.
Putting Metastock directories
into the list of directories to be updated containing historical data
going back further than what is in the HGSI
database will be lost.
- The HGSI updating process respects the
start date contained in the Metastock
files. E.g. if the file has a start date of 1/1/2009, the amount
of data that will be replaced will start at that date, 1/1/2009 even
if the HGSI database has history going
back to 1990. The solution to this situation is to export a
new set of Metastock files using an
earlier start date for the export.
